If you want to gain muscle mass… you should run sprints.
Here’s the funny thing: Most experts will tell you NOT to run sprints if you want to gain muscle mass. They’ll say that sprinting interferes with your body’s ability to gain muscle. They’ll say long, slow cardio is a better option because it’s easier on the body.
I find that hilarious.
Ever seen a frail, skinny sprinter? How about a heavily-muscled distance runner?
For my money, sprinting is the preferred method of conditioning for those looking to build muscle mass. Sprinting gives your heart and lungs a killer workouts, which allows you to accomplish more in the gym.
Plus, sprinting can cause a release of muscle-building hormones. So if you want to build more muscle mass, think twice about parking on the couch during your rest days and instead work in a couple sprint sessions twice a week.
