If You Get Only One Book This Year…

by Matt Marshall on April 28, 2010

In case you missed the announcement, I’m releasing my new book soon.

So you might THINK I’m going to tell you to buy my book, right?

You might THINK I’m going to say something like, “If you only buy one weight training book this year… buy my book.”

But the truth is… if you only buy one weight-training book this year you should NOT buy my upcoming book.

Here’s why…

I’ve recently discovered one of the best weight training books ever. The book was written by a regular guy, with no special physical gifts or talents… who found a way to make himself (and many others) big and strong with nothing more than a few “tried & true” principles.

I got this book a few months ago and I’ve probably read the book over a dozen times. It’s one of those books that you end up reading over and over again because every time you read it you pick up something new.

Real Strength, Real Muscle. A phenomenal book. Get it now.

Real Strength, Real Muscle. A phenomenal book. Get it now.

The book is called “Real Strength, Real Muscle” by John Christy and the reason I think you should buy this book RIGHT NOW is because…

This Book Could Disappear Forever!

Unfortunately, John Christy passed away unexpectedly a short while back. I sent John’s wife an email letting her know how much I admired her husband’s work and how I wished I would have found this book 10 years ago.

We exchanged a few brief emails and she told me the book is still available and she will continue to fulfill orders until their current supply of books is gone. After that, she’s not sure what she is going to do.

Long story short… I think everyone should get a copy of Real Strength, Real Muscle. And if you’re going to buy a copy of the book, you should do it NOW because once all the existing copies of the book are gone, who knows what will happen.

To buy the book, go here: Real Strength, Real Muscle Book

Oh, and just for the record I don’t make a dime if you buy the book. All the money goes to Jennifer and the rest of John’s family. I’m simply recommending this book because I think it’s an incredible resource and I want my readers to get a copy of this book before it’s too late.

NOTE: If you know anyone else who might be interested in this book or if you post any of the popular fitness boards, please share this post.

It’s not every day that we get the chance to do a good deed and help out the wife and family of a fellow iron warrior.

Thanks for reading.

– Matt

Matt Marshall you are truly something else. Never and I mean NEVER have I read information from a person and just felt so much honesty and integrity in so many words. I’m a 22 year old college student, and it’s been one year exactly since I ACCIDENTLY came to this website. I wish I knew about this site 5 years ago because I built so much strength and size in this year that passed since I built my entire life. I’m proud to say I haven’t opened any muscle magazine in awhile now! Tried & True Fitness has become my favorite website, and I will continue to support and endorse anything that you claim has been TRIED & TRUE!! I’m ordering a copy of this book right now. Thanks Matt

Thanks for the extremely kind words Marquise.

I’m glad you got the book… and I’m especially glad to hear you’re staying away from the muscle mags.
;)

Matt,

I enjoy your website; your integrity and honesty are refreshing in an industry dominated by spinning dollar signs.

I have also ordered a copy of the book; the clips on the website were excellent. No response from the seller yet but I trust the book is on its way.

I’m also looking forward to the release of your book.

Thanks.

$25 international shipping. ha ha ha. Get real.

Michael Davenport May 4, 2010 at 8:39 pm

@Daniel An extra $25 to receive a book with real wisdom about strength training is nothing. Millions of people are spending more than $25 /a month/ on the latest supplements that will not enhance their training techniques at all. $25 to learn how to pack on REAL muscle without supplements? Cheap in my opinion.

I wouldn’t waste much breathe Michael.

Some people just like to complain.

The book is 423 pages. I don’t know the exact weight but I’d say it’s over 3 pounds. It’s too thick to fit in a flat-rate envelope which means it’s got to go in a box.

If Daniel actually took the book up to the post office and asked for a shipping quote, I’m guessing it would come in at around $23.67 for international shipping (possibly cheaper to Canada/Mexico).

International shipping is expensive, there’s no way around it.

Angelo May 5, 2010 at 10:15 pm

Hey Matt,
I’ve ordered the book also….just wandering on the time frame. Im in Australia.

Keep up the good work mate

You guys ROCK!

Got an email from John’s wife (Jennifer) and she told me because of this blog post 15 people got a copy of her husband’s book.

(I honestly only expected two or three people to take me up on this.)

Thanks to everyone. You did a really great thing and you’re getting a really great book too.

To Angelo and anyone else wondering about shipping, I don’t have any control over that since Jennifer is the one running things over there.

I’d say give it a few weeks but if you have any specific questions contact her directly at http://www.realstrengthrealmuscle.com

Thanks again guys.

Matt and others,

The book arrived - it took about a week from USA to Japan. For Daniel’s information, the international postage was $26.24 which is more than the shipping I paid.

The book is awesome. Full of fantastic articles designed to pack on muscle without wasting money on inefficient supplements. Some of the best money I’ve spent on training books.

Matt, thanks for the introduction. Too bad John is no longer with us. RIP.

Once again it turned out to be a good idea to follow Matts advice. :-)
The book came to me in Denmark in less than two weeks. And I love it. I am studying it now.
Another book I love is Stuart McRoberts Beyond Brawn (following another recommendation from Matt), so I compare the two. :-)
One interesting subject, where they do not agree is the matter of rep speed. Christy seems not to be in favor of the slow style others recommend. I have to admit I tell rookies to go very slowly, but have a hard time doing it myself. So what John Christy is writing is in fact “what I wanted to hear”. That we do not have to count seconds as well as reps, as long as we perform the exercise in a controlled manner.

I intend to follow many of the advices given in this new book. So once again, thank you Matt for the good advice, and thank you for some wonderful websites, they have helped me a lot.

Greetings from Knud

Greetings from Australia - I just turned 40 recently - however - when I was 27 I purchased Brawn (not beyond brawn) and then the Hardgainer magazines which John Christy was a regular contributor. There was an article from Christie on a bloke he trained called I think Mike Dodd and how he transformed a skinny 6 ft 3 inch guy (like me) with 2 days a week progressive training / eating. My weight went from 80kgs to around 93 kgs in 18 months due to McRobert / Christie - following their methods. No supplements, no magic potions, no changing my mind over routines all the time - just trained at home (Sqaut, Bench, deadlift etc) and ate real food and was consistent. You will learn principles to succeed in anything. This bloke was a real man and not full of B/S .
I was shattered to hear of his passing.

Hey Matt,

I stumbled upon one of John’s articles in a forum. The article was extremely honest but the part I liked the most was it was very down to earth. I immediately clicked on the link and bought the book. I have not regretted the purchase and read a bit everyday. I am also saddened by the fact John passed away at such a young age :(

RIP John

Hey Matt, I got two questions I want to ask you:

1. Do you know about or recommend any books on Vince Gironda?

2. WHEN IS YOUR BOOK COMING OUT?LOL

Matt Marshall July 19, 2010 at 9:30 pm

#1) Start with “Unleashing The Wild Physique.”

#2) August 1st.
