How That Famous Dude Got Jacked For That One Movie

by Matt Marshall on January 9, 2012

This type of transformation is common place in Hollywood.

Almost everyone involved in the fitness industry gets the following question almost daily:

“Hey, how did [insert actor's name here] get so [jacked, ripped, huge] for [insert movie name here.]”

A few years back, I was getting questions about Ed Norton in American History X. Then I got questions about the actors in the movie “300.”
Then questions came pouring in about Christian Bale in Batman and Hugh Jackman in X-Men. Then Ryan Reynolds in some horror movie, and lately it’s questions about Captain America and Ryan Gosling in some new romantic comedy.

Thankfully, I stumbled upon an excellent article from the Washington Times that perfectly explains exactly how these actors get in such incredible shape.

Give it a read:

Actors use steroids-really? Pro and college football players use steroids, really? Tell me it ain’t so, Joe! Hell all these types use steroids, because they are one-eay to get and two-fast. ard work is just not where it’s at today. Thank the luck stars, my gym owner is a Marine and hates steroids, that’s why I’m in better shape at 65 than most of the 30 yr olds that hit the gym, it’s that damn hard work thing he puts us through and that philosphy! Thank you for the book as the philosphy is the same and I am experimenting with it to get in the best shape of my life. Keep your good work.

Chris Evans in Captain America was CG’d into his pre-super body. That wasn’t a workout.

For extreme examples look at Christian Bale in the Machinist vs Batman Begins. Those kinds of transformations are so hard on bodies that nearly all physicians recommend against them.
